Money together is stronger than money apart: facilitating at the FBA Insights conference

On the 13th of October I had the privilege of facilitating a session at the Family Business Association Insights Conference in Brisbane. Thank you to the FBA for the invitation, and for trusting me with such a meaningful conversation.

I sat on stage with Frith Hudson Graham of Hudson Investments and her siblings, Kate Munro and Lynton Hudson. The words that shaped our time together came from their father: “money together is stronger than money apart”. Simple, and strong.

What stayed with me was how naturally the three of them spoke about the choices they make together. Not only choices about money, but about relationship, responsibility and what they want to hand on to the next generation. That is stewardship at its best. Wealth is not only something a family holds. It is something a family looks after, for the people who come after.

Their commitment to collaboration, continuity and shared decision-making showed what that looks like in practice. The philosophy their father gave them has become a compass, not only for wealth, but for the way they treat each other and the courage they share in making decisions in a complex and uncertain world.

Families who choose to walk the road together build a strength that lasts well beyond a balance sheet. It is built slowly, through honest conversations, shared values and a willingness to keep showing up for one another. That is a legacy worth looking after.

Thank you again to Frith, Kate and Lynton for sharing their story so openly, and to the Family Business Association for bringing everyone together. I left the session with real admiration for the Hudson family, and grateful to have been part of it.
